The Audio Foundation is excited to host Abigail Aroha Jensen, Gella Mae Sadumiano and Riki Pirihi as our Spring artists in residence.
Kōanga brings in Abigail Aroha Jensen and Gella Mae Sadumiano. Harp, Ngā taonga pūoro, shells, harakeke chimes – Pūoro pl4y through modular conversations, textural sounds and collaboration with insights from Tuakana, Riki Pirihi and extended whānau. Al clearing up the garden. Planting hue for the next season. A time for reflection. A time for sonic play. A time to listen.
Intimate moments to practise surrendering to the sounds being offered and responding intuitively. Jam sessions flowed with a ‘conversation’ and ‘story-like’ currency. Everything served as a reminder of the importance of intentionally spontaneous play in any creative practice.
Aroha and Gella are inter-disciplinary artists based in Tāmaki Mākaurau and Kirikiriroa. Exploring forms such as painting, tatak, weaving, fibre installation and sonic play.
