Announcing the first of our 2023 Recording Residencies, which will see Abigail Aroha Jensen (@a.ro.ha) and Riki Pirihi (@cave_circles) record work to later be released through our new imprint, AFRecords.

???? Abigail Aroha Jensen (Ngāti Porou, Ngai Taimanuhiri, Count Antrim) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau.⁣
⁣Abigail has been exploring the world of ngā Taonga Pūoro through her practice with fibre/found , installation and painting. Diving into oro and weaving together textures and field recordings of her environment to reflect the ever changing te taiao.⁣

???? Riki Pirihi (Ngāti Wai/Patuharakeke/Ngāti Māhanga Hourua) is a musician based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and performs under the moniker Cave Circles and DJ Oboe. He is currently researching and developing the Conduction method with the Taonga Puoro ensemble, Te Ātea Nui and plays drums with Al Fraser, Mara TK, Orchestra Spheres and with different configurations from the Noa Records collective.
