“Too often, the voices heard at our local venues and on our local radio are male. The Women About Sound projects seeks to understand why this is happening and gain insights from other women in the music industry. The first phase of the project is a series of workshops to help you prepare original songs for recording and to provide an ongoing network within Auckland’s music community.”
The first of the workshops will focus on the various issues that women face as musicians.
The panel includes Caitlin Smith (http://www.caitlinsmith.com/), Ladi6 (https://www.facebook.com/ladi6/), and Elizabeth Stokes (https://www.facebook.com/bethsmusic/).
The project is led by Jess Haugh, who performs as Scarlett Lashes. Jess has been active in the music scene for the last eight years as a performer, composer and audio engineer.
