There Not Here is a monthly broadcast of field recordings on AFM.

Each edition of There Not Here is organised around a theme determined by Tash van Schaardenburg, Jimmy Solórzano, Sam Longmore, and Xin Cheng, artists working with and in relation to field recording in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. Responding to the given theme, each of these artists produces a selection of recordings over the course of a month. These sonic excerpts of place are collated and broadcast on AFM from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month, before being archived on the AFMixcloud page.

The third There Not Here broadcast is organised around the theme, ‘Weather’, suggested by Sam Longmore, and will be broadcast from 7pm on Wednesday 12 May. In response to this theme, Jimmy has made recordings of the summer rains experienced in the Coromandel Peninsula, Tash presents a recording of themself trapped in a small cabin by freezing winds in Abisko, Sweden, recorded in 2020, Sam has compiled a selection of recordings of summertime thunderstorms recorded in the Czech Republic in 2012, and Xin Cheng shares recordings made along Te Auaunga / Oakley Creek walkway using microphones and hydrophones to document how weather events are experienced by the landscape.

Future There Not Here broadcasts will occur from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month.
