The Blues, Oakland’s “post-apocalyptic, buddy-comedy freewave” outfit, are touring NZ this June with one show at The Audio Foundation. The Blues’ music falls somewhere between noise, no wave, and free jazz with skronky weird vibes incorporating only the sounds of guitar and sax. Greg Harvester once described them as “the financial district of San Francisco at rush hour”, and on another occasion as the sort of thing which, “If you were to play it on a boombox in a crowded subway, someone might beat you up.”
The Blues are….
Marissa Magic- electric guitar, alto sax, drums
&
Max Nordile- alto sax, percussion
