Roy Carroll is a musician and composer, born in Dublin, living in Berlin, making recordings, compositions and performances. His work encompasses improvisation, composition, music/choreographic collaboration and practical/experimental research, with porous borders in between. Roy has an overarching interest is in electro-acoustic musical processes, and their physical/acoustic manifestation in performance. He has studied composition with Roger Doyle and Donnacha Dennehy towards the acquisition of an M-Phil in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College Dublin. Recent work has focused on interactions between diverse electro-acoustic media and ensemble instruments, towards codifying the orchestration of electro-acoustic media, – its timbral integration and instrumental syntax within an ensemble.
