Professor Shukhdev Madhur is a renowned violinist in the Hindustāni classical tradition, an art form originating from the north Indian subcontinent. He is a recipient of The National Award presented by the Indian president in 1993, for his contribution as a teacher and conductor. Prof. Madhur has continued to teach during his stay in New Zealand as part of Sargam School of Indian Music. We are delighted to present to you a farewell concert by Prof. Madhur, accompanied by some of Auckland’s leading Hindustāni musicians.
Thirteen year-old Master A.D. Madhur is a tabla student, whose teacher is his own father Deepak madhur. Master A.D. Madhur is New Zealand’s tabla child prodigy, and has recently been invited to play at one of India’s biggest Hindustani classical music festivals. He will be joined on stage by his father Deepak Madhur on harmonium, as well as Basant Madhur on tabla, who is a well-respected performer, teacher, and the founder of Sargam School of Indian Music.
Balamohan Shingade is a vocalist in the Hindustāni classical tradition. He is a student of the renowned Pandit Rajendra Kandalgaonkar of Kirana Gharana school, and is currently completing his Master of Fine Arts
