This event has been cancelled due to the nation-wide pandemic lockdown.
Xin Cheng and Ziggy Lever would like to invite interested people to attend a series of bi-weekly Listening Group sessions, starting with a meet-up at the Audio Foundation (AF) on Saturday the 4th April from 2-4pm. Expanding on the “reading group” model, the Listening Group is an opportunity for those interested in the practices, ethics, experiences, and theories of “listening” to come together and share resources and activities.
For the first session, we would like to explore a few of Pauline Oliveros’s Deep Listening exercises. Oliveros (1932-2016) was a highly influential composer and pioneer of early electronic music. She described listening as a lifelong project. Future sessions are to be decided by the group, and may involve (but are not limited to) sound walks, site visits, set readings, listening exercises, and discussions.
Bi-weekly Listening Group dates:
#1: Saturday 4 April, 2pm – 4pm
#2: Saturday 18 April, 2pm – 4pm
#3: Saturday 2 May, 2pm – 4pm
#4: Saturday 16 May, 2pm – 4pm
Please note that each event will begin at Audio Foundation, although some may move offsite during the course of the event. This will be confirmed closer to the specific date.
