VERENA LERCHER is a Berlin-based artist with a 15-year background in professional stage play and off-production performance. Since 2016, she has been developing and performing her own works. In July 2020, she completed her postgraduate studies in exMedia at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM, DE). In April 2021, she commenced her PhD studies at the University of Roehampton London, focusing on Sounding Out Identities of the Artificial Voice.
She is engaged in text-to-speech architectures involving deep learning, voice cloning, and the ways in which artificial intelligence is transforming how the world is perceived, heard, and comprehended. Within her artistic endeavours, she is cultivating an aesthetic practice centred around the exploration of the artificial voice as a creative medium. This voice, acting as a real-time artistic collaborator, contributes to the generation of media-specific vocal artifacts. Through this, she introduces the instrumental and aesthetic potential of these instruments to craft an imaginative and aesthetically extra-human repertoire, bridging the gap between physical and simulated spaces.
GERRIET KRISHNA SHARMA is a Berlin-based composer, sound artist, and artistic researcher specializing in spatial practices. For the past 20 years, he has been deeply engaged in the spatialization of electroacoustic and instrumental compositions using Ambisonics and Wave-Field Synthesis techniques. Additionally, he has delved extensively into the realm of textural transformation processes, crafting intricate 3D sound sculptures.
His endeavours centre around sound compositions using the Icosahedral loudspeaker (IKO) instrument, a distinct 3D sound projector developed at the Institute of Electronic Music Graz (IEM, AT). The incorporation of the IKO as an artistic tool can be largely attributed to Sharma’s extensive commitment and artistic exploration of the perceptual possibilities inherent in loudspeaker instruments within the realms of music and sound art.
He has received awards and grants, among them the German Sound Art Award in 2008.
In the course of 2017 and 2018, he was designated as the DAAD Edgard Varèse guest professor at TU Berlin.
His binaural spatial sound model (ssm) firniss redux was published by mille plateaux in 2020 and was part of the lumbung radio project at documenta XV.

In 2020, he initiated the Special Interest Group on Spatial Aesthetics and Artificial Environments within the Society for Artistic Research (SAR), and co-founded spæs: Lab for Spatial Aesthetics in Sound at Funkhaus Berlin. Since 2022 he is appointed guest professor for experimental sound and X-spaces at University of Arts & Design (HfG/ZKM) Karlsruhe.
Adam Rotgans, Kristian Larsen and Adam Ben-Dror are Auckland based sound and performance artists who perform regularly as part of the legendary Vitamin S collective ‘Pool Nights’. The trio will utilise a variety of electronic instruments, found sound makers and small instruments.
Gerriet Sharma and Verena Lercher are presented with the support of the Goethe Institut & NZ School of Music.
