On Thursday April 17th, Gary War (NYC), Purple Pilgrims and Kraus will perform live at The Audio Foundation in Auckland, 4 Poynton Terrace, Auckland. 7.30pm start. $5 entry on the door.

Gary War is an American avant-garde musician, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His recordings utilise analog and digital collage techniques, heavily synthesised electronic psychedelia, musique concrete and elements of classical, progressive rock, scream punk and dance music into a modern experimental rock hybrid. An ex-Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti member, frequent John Maus and Bob Trimble collaborator – War has featured on labels including Sacred Bones, Spectrum Spools, Upset The Rhythm, among others.

Purple Pilgrims are the experimental psych/dream pop duo of sisters Clementine and Valentine Nixon. Dark, spaceous, fantastical music rooted in mysticism and wonder, weaving ethereal tales of ancient-futuristic, mythological grandeur. The sisters have toured the world extensively with seminal freak outfits Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Gary War, and acts of the Not Not Fun persuasion. http://pseudoarcana.bandcamp.com/album/purple-pilgrims

Kraus (also known as Pat Kraus, formerly known as Prince Kraus) is a New Zealand experimental musician and composer. The New Zealand Listener called him “a national treasure” and “one of the most quietly important and interesting people making music in New Zealand” His music crosses the boundaries of electronic music, post-rock, no wave, space folk, noise pop, punk rock and martian stomp. https://monikerrecordsss.bandcamp.com/album/kraus-supreme-commander
