Please join us on Friday and Saturday for Big Other, an antipodean collaboration between bassist Max Alduca (Sydney), drummer Joe McCallum and multi-wind instrumentalist Reuben Derrick.

With roots in jazz, sonic art and free improvisation, Big Other create sonic collages which combine acoustic and electronic instruments and field recordings. The result is a unique experience that blurs the edges of sound/communication, acoustic/electronic, tradition/intuition.

If you haven’t had your fill after Friday, on Sunday Max Alduca (Sydney) and Darren Hannah play a cantankerous bass duet, Andrew McMillan, Joe McCallum and Reuben Derrick will reunite, a hairy trio of JY Lee, Joe McCallum and Max Alduca will grow on you, a cranky old man duet of Paul Buckton and Reuben Derrick, and an all-in finish will wrap up the evening’s proceedings.
