Works for Loudspeakers began in Wellington in 2014, occurring as quarterly events showcasing sound-based composition submissions.
The aim was to allow composers and artists to share their work, to keep in touch, see what others have been working on, and to have the pieces heard.
Due to the nature of sound-based composition, Works For Loudspeakers also allows an audience to practice close listening.
This series of events shares these aims, and is coordinated in association with AUT’s ST PAUL ST Gallery, Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, and Artspace.
Additional events at RM103 Artist-run Gallery, and Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts are in the process of being confirmed.
