Join us from 5 to 8pm on the 3rd February for An Inverse Unit of Time LIVE: a set of five performances by Neil Feather, Clinton Watkins, Current Bias, M4URI M4STA, and WaiWhai with Parks. This event is created in collaboration with The Audio Foundation.
Each sonic artist brings their unique soundscapes to the evening:
Neil Feather, a visionary sound mechanic, creates visually arresting musical instruments, offering an almost alien musical experience.
Clinton Watkins, focuses on the characteristics, structures, phenomena, and processing of sonic and visual material through repetition, distortion, duration and form via a minimalist sensibility.
Current Bias, a Te Whanganui-a-Tara-based deejay and sound designer, mesmerises with their incredible textures and hypnotising maximalism, reflecting their eclectic work across various labels.
M4URI M4STA, the sonic expression of Abigail Aroha Jensen, immerses the audience in the world of oro (sound) through Ngā Taonga Pūoro (Māori musical instruments) and field recordings, creating a bridge between urban and natural soundscapes.
Finally, WaiWhai and Parks, the duo of Rāhara (Larsen) Winiata Tito-Taylor and Parks, bring a ‘stream of consciousness’ approach, blending ancestral philosophies with contemporary sonic experimentation.
Together, these artists create a unique, multi-disciplinary auditory experience that will transcend traditional musical boundaries.
