THERE NOT HERE 04 – Living Sounds

There Not Here is a monthly broadcast of field recordings on AFM.

Each edition of There Not Here is organised around a theme determined by Tash van Schaardenburg, Jimmy Solórzano, Xin Cheng, and Sam Longmore, artists working with and in relation to field recording in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. Responding to the given theme, each of these artists produces a selection of recordings over the course of a month. These sonic excerpts of place are collated and broadcast on AFM from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month, before being archived on the AFMixcloud page.

The fourth There Not Here broadcast is organised around the theme, ‘Living Sounds’, suggested by Sam Longmore, and will be broadcast from 7pm on Wednesday 9 June. In response to this theme, Tash presents a piece created with assistance from photographer Becki Moss & her four chickens – Lady Grey, Kimchi, Lady Pat, and Butch – using chicken feed, scrap metal, a window frame and contact mics, Sam has documented the parallel lives of avian and homonid residents of Tāmaki Makaurau at dusk, and Xin Cheng shares recordings of Urban Kai Farmers, Common Unity Project Aotearoa, produced in the spring of 2020 featuring the voices of Adam Ben-Dror, Roy Walker, Hannah Zwartz, Lani Rotzler Purewa, a group of volunteer farmers, and the tiger worms at Epuni School, Lower Hutt.

There Not Here broadcasts occur from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month.
