Audible Edge is a celebration of DIY and exploratory music culture on Whadjuk Noongar boodja, running yearly since 2017. It has no genre affiliation and is home to all kinds of sonic strangeness. It has a boundless affection for the unhinged, the goofy and the peerlessly rigorous alike. It hosts special music in settings that strive to be fun, friendly, safe, and accessible.
Supported by The Audio Foundation and Creative New Zealand, Audible Edge presents:
Vocalist and electronic musician Jonny Marks has been a key figure in the creative music scene in Wellington since the early 2000s. The charismatic front man of All Seeing Hand, Flower Orphans, and The Mean Bones has been performing spellbinding solo gigs of late, and this release is his debut solo album, recorded live at Pyramid Club in February 2021. It is an exploration of the slow resonances of FM synthesis, the Synthi AKS, and the human voice.
Audible Edge takes place on Whadjuk Noongar boodja: sovereign Country for eternity. They pay respects to Noongar birdiya (Elders) and custodians. They dream of a culture of sounding and listening which supports restorative justice and the Law of the land.
