Please join us to celebrate the opening of Louder in the Space Between, an exhibition of new sound works by Auckland-based artist and writer Rachel Ashby, exploring fresh voices in times of political upheaval.
We live in dissonant times, a prolonged period of crisis and discontinuity in which traditional conventions of social order are constantly being called into question. Here, now, the instability of our fractured political landscape, also presents a platform for reordering: a chance to challenge dominant narratives.
The collaboratively recorded polyphonies of Louder in the Space Between consider the futures poised to emerge from this moment of rupture.
Rachel Ashby is an Honours student at the Elam School of Fine Arts working predominantly in the mediums of sound and text. Growing up in Christchurch, her practice is informed by her experiences of the post-disaster context of the 2010 and 2011 Earthquakes, and the renegotiations of community and place arising from this.

Hours – Tuesday – Saturday, 12.00pm – 4.00pm.
