A month of shows from artistic duo Stephen Bain & Nisha Madhan. The Audio Foundation will be the command centre for an ongoing invitation to prepare, participate and perform the future.
Future Hotel are an international collective whose public interventions alter all unknown futures.

Future Hotel – events for AF exhibition season
Daytime performances are generally 12 – 4pm and will play for the entire session. You are welcome to come and go as you like, bring your lunch or make a cup of tea. These performances are FREE.
Evening performances generally start at 8pm and will include a line up of performers, see www.futurehotel.co.nz for details. Entry by Koha unless stated otherwise.

Welcome To Our Place 6 – 9pm
Inhabit the past, present and future of Future Hotel. Be lead by suggestion or make your own mix-tape of strategies through the array on offer. Eat, drink, pretend to be someone or somewhere else if you prefer.

1000 Essential Directions (12 – 4pm)
Future Hotel’s continuous reading of vital directions from classic performance texts; borrowed, found, loaned, stolen, imagined.
Wed 13 May
What Is In Here For You? 7 – 9pm (FREE)
An evening of performance videos selected by Future Hotel, projected on the little big screen for your pleasure, BYO.
Thurs 14 May
Things You Might Want To Know Once You Settle In… (12 – 4pm)
An interactive text and soundscape triggered by audience response. Applaud, boo, shout, cheer, speak inappropriately to your friends, sigh. The computer doesn’t care about your tastes, your ethics, or your politics, but how it plays out is entirely dependent on you.

FHAAB – Future Hotel Arts Advice Bureau (12 – 4pm)
Future Hotel will listen to your artistic problems and offer advice. No problem is too great a burden. Bring your greatest fears and we will talk them through with you. Representatives from institutional arts organisations and political parties are equally welcome.

Participants acknowledge that these sessions may be recorded for staff training purposes.

Conditions Of Stay (12 – 4pm)
Future Hotel attempt to completely exhaust their imagination through a continuous state of preparation as they set the scene for an imagined performance, supported by an equally shapeshifting moodscape of sound and light.

Evening Performance 8pm (Koha Entry)
ABSOLUTE.SILENCE – a wireless headphone performance for up to 20 participants. Recordings of silence from around the planet score a roaming installation (premiered at last year’s NOWHERE festival)

Us & Them, Here & There, Come & Go – a durational performance clarifies every known thing in the universe once and for all.

Future Hotel are joined by a polygon of local performers in an ongoing performance that has no beginning and no end, no performer and no audience, no resolution and no emotion, no sympathy and no empathy, no insiders and no outsiders, no invitation list and no sponsors, no rules and no responsibility. Come and go as you like, get as involved as the mood takes you.
