Outlier Festival 2022: New Electronic Music from Aotearoa is the first release on Audio Foundation Records (AFR), a platform for releasing sounds and music associated with the plethora of programmes the organisation produces, with the intention of representing the experimental music scene across the country. 

This 17-track compilation is part of the multimodal project Outlier Festival, showcasing artists associated with the festival on 07 – 09 October, helping provide newcomers with an accessible entry point for the genre-straddling festival of bleeding-edge sonics from throughout Aotearoa. 

Outlier Festival 2022 testifies to a flourishing and diverse electronic music scene thriving even in isolated pockets of the country. It features bass, breakbeat, synthpop, drone, ambient, noise, musique concrete, coldwave, hardcore, neofolk, taonga puōro, minimal & maximal tracks, and more. Presenting a compilation that is shockingly fresh, attuned to the times, highly emotive and full of forward thinking sounds.
