LISTENING GROUP

Xin Cheng and Ziggy Lever would like to invite interested people to attend a series of fortnightly Listening Group sessions, starting with a meet-up at The Audio Foundation (AF) on Saturday the 25th of July from 2-4pm. Expanding on the “reading group” model, the Listening Group is an opportunity for those interested in the practices, ethics, experiences, and theories of “listening” to come together and share resources and activities, For the first session we would like to explore a few of Pauline Oliveros’s Deep Listening exercises.

Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) was a highly influential composer and pioneer of early electronic music. She described listening as a lifelong project. Future sessions are to be decided by the group, and may involve (but are not limited to) sound walks, site visits, set readings, listening exercises, and discussions.
