Makigami Koichi is one of the most remarkable living vocal artists. Adept at extended vocal techniques, Tuvan throat singing, improvisation, song writing, Jaws harp, theremin and much more – this is a rare opportunity to experience the techniques and knowledge of an extraordinary performer.
Currently touring NZ with his 5 piece band HIKASHU, Koichi has performed with a vast array of innovators including John Zorn, Derek Bailey, Otomo Yoshihide, Jim O’Rorke, Tatsuya Yoshida, Akira Sakata, Ikue Mori and John Oswald.
