ARTIST INFORMATION:

10 ACRE BLOC

Why not try a lifestyle block sized ensemble performance? 10 Acre Bloc is an Auckland big band institution of noise making improvisation originally formed in 2002. With an ever changing line-up of musicians, the ensemble is interested in exploring and performing spontaneous and explorative music in a large ensemble setting.

Over recent times 10 Acre Bloc has been using a conduction method and the Lexicon of Signs started by Lawrence Butch Morris, and further developed by Steve Beresford and the London improvisers orchestra.

MĀPURA MUSIC
Māpura is a creative space that provides programmes and activities in visual arts practice, creative expression, dance-movement, music and art therapy for people living with disability and diversity.

Facilitated by Stefan Neville (Pumice) participants create soundscapes & alternate reality classic hits using piles of old keyboards, percussion, ukuleles, effects pedals & anything that can make a noise. The approach is spontaneous and immersive. The group utilise gut instinct expression and natural ability to create an environment where anyone can contribute & any sound can be considered music.

KRISTIAN LARSEN
Kristian Larsen is an Auckland based artist working in choreography and sound via improvisation. Coming from an exhaustive background in contemporary dance performance, Larsen’s artistic interests lie currently in live collaboration, sonic experimentation & spatialisation, naiveté, acousmatic and electronic sound, technical skill coupled with non-comprehension, and the poetics of decay and delay in bodily movement. Larsen is perusing doctoral studies around movement and sound in performance.

He performs regularly alongside Ivan Mršić in The Projection Band, and is a regular participant in Vitamin S improvised music events.

IVAN MRŠIĆ
Ivan Mršić is an interdisciplinary visual artist, percussionist, composer and improviser, fascinated and frustrated by consumerism, waste and excessive energy consumption. Building on the foundations of the European avant-garde, Mršić’s practice incorporates many disciplines, transforming them into contemporary dialogue.

PARKS/RIKI/NAVA/LARSEN
Larsen Taylor (WhyFi.) and NAVAKATOA TEKELA-PULE (Strangelove), two of the minds behind adventurous Tamaki Makaurau imprint Noa Records, are joined by drummer and producer extraordinaire Riki Gooch and his long-time collaborator Parks.

Selective Noise Reuptake Inhibitor Increases Serotonin Burst-Induced Unconditioned And Context-Conditioned Freezing
Suitably bloated moniker for the band providing the mesh of sonics for a last chance chaosdance.
