There Not Here is a monthly broadcast of field recordings on AFM.
Each edition of There Not Here is organised around a theme determined by Tash van Schaardenburg, Jimmy Solórzano and Sam Longmore, artists working with and in relation to field recording in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. Responding to the given theme, each of these artists produces a selection of recordings over the course of a month. These sonic excerpts of place are collated and broadcast on AFM from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month, before being archived on the AFMixcloud page.
The theme for the second There Not Here broadcast was ‘Waterways’, suggested by Tash van Schaardenburg, and was be broadcast on Wednesday 14 April. In response to this theme, Jimmy made recordings of Whatipu Beach, Tash collected recordings of Waipāruru Stream below Grafton Bridge, a bangin’ washing machine, and several public water features that intermingle with the sounds of city life, and Sam produced a suite of recordings at Te Auaunga (Oakley Creek and Waterfall).
Future There Not Here broadcasts will occur from 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month.
