Party Next Door

“Two years ago my family and I moved from a quiet and tranquil location into the heart of an active suburb. We were thrown into a full-fledged surburban soundscape where sounds spill through fences, slip under doors, bounce off the pavement, street and basketball court. Bass thumps through concrete and rattles windows. Kids scream, shout and yell. Party next door is an exploration and celebration of this suburban soundscape.”

Sam Morrison devises inventive low-tech sound installations with a particular focus on activating the acoustic and architectural qualities of a site. Sam has utilised a wide range of materials and technologies within his work, from the creation of acoustic objects to mechanical self-playing constructions. Sam has exhibited and performed in a number of public galleries and spaces across New Zealand.
