Please join us to celebrate the opening of Paul Timing’s latest exhibition, Dictyoptera.
Dictyoptera is an insect superorder that includes two orders of polyneopterous insects: the termites and cockroaches along with the mantids.
Dictyoptera is also a multi-channel sound installation. It is a descriptive experience of my time as a privately sanctioned scribe for Select Committee meetings in Wellington, New Zealand.
The audio content is comprised primarily of discreet moments from presentations by Chief Executive Officers at Select Committee meetings. It is structured; algorithmically generated from the cladogram of the insect superorder. Each discreet moment is subsequently processed and spatialised.
The sound installation Dictyoptera will be accompanied with a printed executive summary of the same name.
Opens – Thursday 3 August, 5.30pm (w. refreshments from Liberty Breweries)
Hours – Tuesday – Saturday, 12.00pm – 4.00pm.
Closes – Saturday 2 September, 4.00pm.
