Guy Fawkes Recording Project 5-11-06
- Posted: 24 Oct, 2006

Hi All,
Seeing as it sounds like this will probably be the last time Fireworks will be available to the public to purchase in New Zealand, I want to put together an audio collage of this years celebrations nationwide. (November 5th)

Technical criteria:
- Please send the original recordings with no eq/ limiting post work done!
- 24bit / 48Khz files prefered , but will accept 16bit / 48khz recordings.
- I can transfer from DAT (and will return the tape afterwards)
- No mini disks please! I don't have the equipment to transfer on to my mac.
- Stereo please! (m/s or x/y , either is ok.)
- Surround would be way cool!

Subject matter:
It's up to you. It can be at home with your friends and family , a public display , the neighbourhood sounds... you get the idea.

Please get in touch and let me know that you are willing to participate , also feel free to send this on to anyone you think may be interested. I'll be posting the final result on my web page: http://www.ourmedia.org/user/44279 late november and will send each contributor a couple of copies of the finished product. If it comes together well I'll look at releasing a short run of cd's.

Regards,
Grant Finlay

High Dependency Unit - one show only
- Posted: 05 Mar, 2006

John Peel called them ?one of the ten best bands in the world you have never heard of?. If you know anything about anything however, you will have heard of them, and if you haven't, you should go anyway. HDU are set to take the stage at Auckland?s Studio on April 22 supported by Yokel Ono. The one off gig, will double as the release of their stunning new single Tunguska . HDU, were last seen performing alongside the Straitjacket Fits in Wellington last year, they made a terrific racket, then disappeared out of sight again. They don't play many shows these days so see them while you have a chance. HDU will kick your arse and make you like it.

?An unstoppable drone-juggernaut, they proved equal parts compelling and terrifying for the more, er, chemically refreshed portions of their audience?
Melody Maker

?A roaring, enveloping psychedelic swirl of a propulsive hard rock band. Simultaneously driving and expansive, their music projects a wide-screen image of the onrushing of infinite landscapes as traversed from low orbit.?
Steve Albini

BUS B at the Fringe Festival
- Posted: 03 Feb, 2006

BUS B is a videographic and musical experiment in public transport, recreated inside an inflatable bus through live audio manipulation and remix. This is a collaboration between Parisian video artist Kartini B and Wellington musicians Disasteradio and Saali Marks. Playing with acoustic isolation, open source software, ancient synthesizers and mp3 players, they create an improbable dialogue between image, sound/noise and silence in a habitually non-social urban interstice. BUS B will be showing at the Thistle Hall Gallery, top of Cuba Street in Wellington, February 25-27. Advanced booking is recommended. Consult www.busb.co.nz for more information and reservations.
