Sara and I are heading back to Wellington from Christchurch. We are looking for someone to help out with a load of boxes and musical instruments and are prepared to pay all costs- fuel, ferry, general food expenses etc, to anyone keen to do a round trip (ie Wellington to Chch return or Chch to Wellington return). Sometime around the end of the month or very beginning of July. This would require a large size station wagon or more ideally a van. Might suit a musician wanting to travel and play the other city? Any suggestions most welcome - it seems that due to the number of people moving out of Chch that the moving companies have hiked their prices- we got quoted $3000 the other day (for only a large car or van worth of gear...) Also I'm off-loading a bunch of vinyl and CDs to try and reduce this load... Below is a list of the stuff I though may be salable (filled half a bin with the rest..) I will cover postage for bulk orders but for smaller ones I'll get back to you with postage. Please reply to my email address and not to the list... NW uses his laptop and guitar to aid him in creating these pieces with no particular beginning or ending points, more a filtering of a sound that already exists. NW also collaborates with Andrew Scott (half of Metal Rouge) as Nest. http://nigelwright.bandcamp.com/ GREG MALCOLM Greg Malcolm's solo performances are a mesmerising experience involving three guitars played with hands, feet and all manner of household objects. His sound is a beautifully paced, lush world of chimes, drones, twangs, scrapes and thumps. Come along and check it out, should be a fantastic show! Surfing USSR are Greg Malcolm guitars Chris O'Connor drums Marc Howe bass for this show they will be joined on some tracks by the amazing John Bell on vibraphone great! Notoriety, they always had plenty of, but popular and critical acceptance came slowly to Surfing USSR. Numerous setbacks were encountered and defeated along the way, such as the difficult time when a media leak revealed that only one band member really surfed. Surfing USSR's authenticity was under question but their immense popularity with the public remained unaffected. Since then the band have gone from strength to strength after modifying their show based on the many suggestions received in their suggestion box. Today, it would seem very hard to say enough good things about Surfing USSR.
