ARROWS
Stella Corkery born 1960 is an artist and multi instrumentalist whose work has involved improvisational and underground music making and arts administration initially in Dunedin/Port Chalmers in the 80's through to now - Auckland 2009. The musical groups being Angel Head, La Motta, Queen Meanie Puss, Hot Buttered Soul, Fake Purr and currently with Alan Holt as one half avant rock outfit White Saucer. Whitesaucer began in Auckland 1993 and have been practitioners of improvised free noise and avant rock since their conception. She has also performed as a guest of Lovely Midget on several of her releases and soundtracks. Stella has had releases on Xpressway, Flying Nun , Siltbreeze and Claudia amongst others. In Auckland she created two record labels; Girl Alliance to primarily document the nascent riot girl scene of the mid 90’s and a more experimental label Pink Air. She previously self released her own solo projects under the name Sweetcakes and now composes and records as ARROWS. She is currently attending The Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.
