This is a festival with a focus on music
that is exploring new area's in creating sound and musical
expression and the community in Auckland making it.
We hope to encourage new musical interests and make it accessible
to those interested in exploring the world though sound.

Tim Coster
*Coster will be presenting field recordings & computer
processed sounds. Improvised hushed acoustics, musical mistakes,occasional
hums,static,clicks and drones over layered in a dense chatter.

Jeff Henderson
*From Wellington,Henderson is undoubtedly NZ,s most respected
and important contemporary saxophonist.
He has contributed greatly to the advancement of NZ's fringe
music communities by founding performance venues as the Space
and Happy.
Jeff will be performing a solo improvised saxophone set..
Expect nothing and anything!

*isyd is exploring a new methodology, utilising violin, computer
and CD.

Helga Fassonaki
*Investigating low frequencies, enviromental/machine noise
and reconfigured audiotape
repeaters.Fassonaki will be exploring a childhood fascination
with the 72 stringed persian dulcimr and its resonant properties.

ZingQi Yu & WenYan Li
*Recently setting up the Chinese Folk Instrument store, these
two are masters of
traditional Chinese folk music. You are unlikely to have witnessed
this music played by to such skilled artists of the Er'hu
and dulcimer.We are very proud to have them included in the
festival.

*Digital/analog feedback and a small acoustic ensemble. Delegates
from the carbon
based music-making society rough
it thru blizzards of mechanical feedback fizzle and surprise
banshee attacks, but ultimately the y come for the sweet fruit
of jittery tweets and pure tone burps that only the world
of electronic stochastica can provide.

rhythm's with hypnotic percussive calamities.

Vitamin Silo
*Vitamin S is an institute of improvised music in Auckland.
They have been hosting a weekly improvised music performance
evening every week. Now in its fourth year it is held at the
Wine Cellar on Wednesday nights.

that will perform to a film created by the one of NZ's most
infamous genius musical oddities,Witcyst.The group will comprise
of guitar/bells/ laptop/bass/percussion/ prepared speakers/breath.

*is a giant improvising ensemble with an ever-changing lineup,
culled from the furthest extremities of the local music scene
and beyond. Their collective process yields exciting and challenging
sonic performances. Ever taking the music to the people the
10 acre bloc orch strives to perform in high profile, very
public events unleashing there freedom and vitality on the
unexpecting general
public.

Nigel Wright
*Wright makes texturally ambiguous, loop-based improvised
pieces. Most of his work is created and performed using his
laptop, often with source material gained elsewhere on tape.

Ditzy Squall
*an original angular three- piece unit from Wellington delivering
its own intense fusion of freeform and math rock, drawing
upon musical traditions such as punk rock, minimalism, mutant
sibling of the traditional rock format.
Consisting of Chrissie Butler-guitar and vocals, Aaron Lloydd-bass,
Kieran Monaghan-drums and
vocals.The trio have just returned
from a tour of Eastern Europe and Japan.
